Subject: Would you Join the Free Syria Caucus to support human rights and democracy in Syria?

I am writing to ask you to join the Friends of a Free, Stable, and Democratic Syria Caucus. This caucus was started in May 2017 by Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Brendan Boyle (D-PA). It has bipartisan membership numbering over 50 representatives from at least 21 states. You can see the full list of members at www.freesyria.org/syria-caucus/. As a constituent, I recognize the destabilizing effect that Syria's dire humanitarian situation has had on the Middle East and Europe, in which millions have had to flee their homes under threat by the Syrian regime, Russian, and Iranian aggression. The Assad regime's use of mass torture, chemical weapons, bombardment, and weaponized starvation has cost at least 500,000 lives and forced the Syrian people to pay an enormous price for freedom. Further, Assad's war on civilians has created a vacuum that extremists like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Iranian-backed terror proxies have been able to exploit in ways that jeopardize the security of the United States and its allies. The Free Syria Caucus believes Congress should have a role in informing policies that can end the indiscriminate killing in Syria and promote a democratic society based on the rule of law.
