Dear advocate,

In light of the recent developments and public health concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Americans for a Free Syria and its partners have decided to postpone the commemoration events for the ninth anniversary of the Syrian revolution, originally scheduled for March 11-12.

This decision to cancel the conference was made collectively following confirmed cases in the Washington, D.C. area, and due to the participation of several attendees and speakers who are traveling from or have visited areas with large numbers of confirmed cases.

The following events on March 11-12 will be affected:

Wednesday, March 11

9:00 am – 4 pm: “The Way Forward in Syria: Idlib, US Policy, and the Constitutional Process”

6:00 pm – 10:00 pm: Evening Gala

* If you have purchased a gala ticket, the Syrian American Council will refund you the full amount.

Thursday, March 12

8:00 - 4:00 pm: Congressional Events and Advocacy Day

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Rally to Commemorate 9th Anniversary of the Syrian Revolution

We regret having to postpone this important event; however, we feel it is imperative to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved. We remain committed to focusing on the urgent and critical events in Syria and look forward to announcing a new date for these events as soon as we are able to do so.

Americans for a Free Syria (AFS) is a non-partisan, non-profit that advocates for human rights, the rule of law and U.S. national security interests in Syria.
